Is it possible to change information on my birth certificate?

Under certain circumstances, it may be possible to change the details or add to the information recorded at the time of the original registration.
Depending on exactly what the changes are, you will need to arrange either a correction, a change of baby’s forename or a re-registration.

What information will I find on a Death certificate?

On the death certificate you will find the following information:-

Father’s Occupation, if named
Signature, description and residence of informant

Q. I have a British passport, does this mean that my birth is registered or recorded in the UK, even though I was born abroad?

A. No. Having a British passport does not mean that your birth was automatically registered in the UK. Your birth may have been registered, by your parents, with the British authorities in the country of birth, but registering is not compulsory.

Q. Are all overseas events involving British nationals held in the UK?

A. No. Registering with the British authorities is not compulsory. It is not a service which everyone takes up.
